David Barker, 64, formerly of McLeansboro, died 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born Aug. 11, 1951, in Eldorado, the son of Reese and Mary (Irvin) Barker. He married Rita Murrow; she preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Glenda (Stacy Cohenour) Barker of Manito and Shannon (Michelle Newcomb) Barker of Mcleansboro; sister, Kay (husband Charlie) Kaufman of Belle Rive; grandchildren, Blaine Barker, Marti Newcomb Barker, Zarian Cohenour and Laura Clagg; one great-grandson, Zane Clagg; special nephew, Jim (Debbie) Shroyer; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Robert David Barker Jr.; and one brother, Tom Barker. Funeral service were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Randall Ragan officiating. Interment was be at Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday, Feb. 20, at Gholson Funeral Home. He was a construction laborer. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in McLeansboro and the Laborer Local Union 1197. Gholson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
