Donald Gene Ewald, 68, passed away, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his home in Dahlgren, Illinois.
He was born in McLeansboro, IL on January 6, 1949 to George and Lilly Marguerite (Hutchcraft) Ewald. A retired farmer and truck driver he was also a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War.
Donald is survived by his wife, Regenia Ewald of Dahlgren; three sons, Shawn Ewald of McLeansboro, Shane (Cassie) Ewald of Dahlgren, Brett Ewald of Vienna; two step-sons, Steve (Joleeta) Scott of Perryville, Arkansas, Michael (Laura) Garcia of Perryville, Arkansas; three daughters, Shalonda (Matthew) Johnson of McLeansboro, Sherry (Rick) Prosise of Centralia and Shanice Ewald of Lawrence, Kansas. Fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild, Lauren White; brother, Ron Ewald; and a sister, Jacqueline Ewald.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Jacob Gray officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. He will be laid to rest in the Richardson Hill Cemetery in Dahlgren with graveside military rites performed by American Legion Post #106 of McLeansboro.
The Gholson Funeral Home of Dahlgren is in charge of arrangements.
