Dorothy Lou Hammons, 85, of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., passed away May 8, 2014. Memorial services were May 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. She was born Jan. 25, 1929, in McLeansboro, the daughter of Frank H. and Myrtle May Hart Hensley. She and her husband, Thomas, married in McLeansboro, Aug. 15, 1948. She retired after 20-plus years in the real estate industry as an agent, broker, office manager and she was also a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club. She was a certified residential sales specialist. After a successful career in real estate in Michigan, she and her husband moved to the Glade in 1989, where she enjoyed playing bridge with several different clubs. She was a devout Christian lady and a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. People will remember her wonderful laugh and great sense of humor, always sharing a funny story with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bargain shopping all across the country. She is survived by her sons, Capt. Thomas J. Hammons III, USN, RET. and his wife, Lana, of San Diego, Calif. and Mr. Mark A. Hammons and his wife, Cyndi, of Greeley, Colo.; grandchildren, Mr. Thomas J. Hammons IV and his wife Kelly, of Las Vegas, Master Sergeant Timothy Luke Humerickhouse, USAF, Mrs. Jamie Elaine Leos and her husband, Juan of Greeley, Colo., Petty Officer Andrea Nicole Humerickhouse, USN, Ms. Nevaeh Elaine Hammons and Mr. Mark Anthony Hammons, both of Greeley, Colo.; and sisters, Ruth Johnson and Mary Ann Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Hammons, Jr.; daughter, Louana Lee Peontek; granddaughter, Mrs. Abigail Keller; brothers, Clyde Hensley, Carl Hensley and John Hensley; and sister, Thelma Hensley Prichett.
