Edward O. Smith, 62, of New Boston, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Trinity Muscatine. Visitation was held Sunday, March 6, at New Boston United Methodist Church. A memorial service was held Monday, March 7, at New Boston United Methodist Church. Memorials may be left for the family. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Edward was born Aug. 4, 1953, in San Angelo, Texas, a son of Charles A. and Georgia F. Leslie Smith. He graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1971. On Feb. 4, 1973, he married Sherri Wynn at the Union Missionary Baptist Church, Dahlgren. He worked at the Eagles Warehouse for 30 years, retiring in 2003. For several years, Ed was a coach for Westmer Schools and New Boston Youth Baseball and was active with the Westmer Athletic Boosters. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. Ed was an outdoorsman, enjoying golfing, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed music and line dancing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherri Smith, of New Boston; sons, Dusty Smith of Chicago, Brad (Shaya) Smith of Rock Island and Cory (Lisa) Smith of Milan; grandchildren, Lexi, Marley, Braelyn, Drew and Tyus; and siblings, Steve (Rebecca) Smith of Mt.
