Eileen Salmon, 73, of McLeansboro, passed away 6:43 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Care in Mt. Vernon. She was born Nov. 30, 1941, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Baechle) Traush. She married Paul Edwin Salmon; he preceded her in death. Survivors include a brother, Harold Traush of Dahlgren; five sisters, Eleanor Traush, Marcella Traush, Marie Hopkins and Barbara Traush all of McLeansboro and Margaret Ragan of Wayne City; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Telly Salmon; three brothers, Paul Traush, Bill Traush and Edward Traush; and three sisters, Florence Michlik, Rosanna Traush and Caroline Gunter. She was a retired medical transcriptionist. She was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Medical Corps. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m. Burial was at St. John's Cemetery in Piopolis. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home. Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all of the arrangements.
