Ethel Lois Rose, 88, of McLeansboro, died 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Heritage Woods in McLeansboro. She was born Jan. 27, 1926, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Victor Earl and Ruby (Sneed) Wisley. She married Thomas Benny Rose on July 17, 1942, and he preceded her in death. She was retired from the laundry department at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a member of Pleasant Union Congregational Christian Church near McLeansboro. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (fiance David Musgrave) Murdach of McLeansboro and Sheila (husband John R.) Taylor of McLeansboro; son, Richard (wife Jane) Rose of Cobden; five grandchildren, Lisa (Todd) Cottle, Gregory (Donna) Murdach, David (Annie) Murdach, Victor Scott Rose and Bethany Floyd; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Louise Edwards and Berniece Nelson. Funeral service were held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Jay Vineyard officiating. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near McLeansboro. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday, April 18, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
