Gailen Webb, 81, of McLeansboro, died Monday, June 15, 2015, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born June 8, 1934, in McLeansboro, the son of Samuel and Madeline (Thompson) Webb. He married Velma Brown on Dec. 25, 1956. Gailen was a longtime barber, starting in Charleston, and spending most of his years in McLeansboro. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Protestant faith. Most of all, Gailen loved his grandchildren and his family. He was excited about having another great-grandchild on the way. He is survived by his wife, Velma; his son, Robin (Teresa) Webb of McLeansboro; his daughter, Cindy McCormick of McLeansboro; grandchildren, Kristopher McCormick, Kassi (Jesse) Seals, Courtney (Bobby) Robertson, Callie (Adam Johnson) Webb, Corey and Cord Webb; great-grandchildren, Kaydence McCormick, Charliey, Elijah and Axton Robertson; and two sister-in-laws, Mildred and Bonnie Webb. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Willis, Harry, David, Ernest, Edsel, Darrell, Samuel and Val Gene; and sisters, Reba, Opal, Carrie, Wilma and Lucille. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at the McLeansboro General Baptist Church with burial in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the McLeansboro General Baptist Church. Graveside military rites were conducted by the McLeansboro American Legion.
