Gary W. Campbell, 64, of McLeansboro, died 11:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield. He was born June 3, 1951, in McLeansboro, the son of Val Benson and Thelma J. (Roe) Campbell. He married Denise Schuster on Nov. 5, 1983; she survives in McLeansboro. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Matthias Campbell and fiance Olivia Coy; two daughters, Rachel Webb and husband Clayton of Ewing and Rebekah Campbell of McLeansboro; a grandson, Clayton Webb Jr.; a sister, Sharon Reyling of Freeburg; and a nephew, Father Mark Reyling of Freeburg. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Piopolis. He was employed as a maintenance worker for Hamilton County schools for 37 years. He loved woodworking. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating. Burial was at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Piopolis. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Harre Funeral Home. A rosary service was conducted at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the McLeansboro High School Foundation or the Fairfield Hospital Comfort Care and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home. Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, is in charge of arrangements.
