Gene “Pork Chop” Eblen, 79, of Mill Shoals, died 12:55 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at McLeansboro Rehab and Health Care Center in McLeansboro. He was born Oct. 14, 1936, in McLeansboro, the son of Guy Eblen and Gladys Jacobs. He married Phyllis (Vaught) Eblen on June 10, 1988, in Tennessee; she preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 2010. He is survived by one son, Darl Eblen of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Cindy (Randy) Inboden of McLeansboro and Shari (Eddie) Greer of Metropolis; three stepsons, Charles Miller of Mt. Vernon, Frank Miller of Tennessee and John Edward Miller of Watzburg, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Karen Miller of Illinois and Sharon Moore of Carmi; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters and one brother. Funeral service was held Saturday, March 5, at Nale’s Funeral Home with Brother Jason Moore officiating. Interment was at Burnt Prairie Cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday, March 5, at Nale’s Funeral Home. He was a linesman for the city of McLeansboro for 20 years before retiring.
