Isaiah Makail Snowden, 17, a resident of Opdyke, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25th, 2015, in rural Franklin County. He was a student in his senior year at Hamilton County Unit 10 High School in McLeansboro, and was also a member of the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John C. Evilsizer; maternal great-grandparents, Harley and Betty Conner; maternal grandmother, Opal Evilsizer; paternal great-grandparents Fred and Shirley Harlow; great-uncles, Wayne Evilsizer, Jeff Conner, Steve Conner and Morris Cook; an uncle Troy "Moose" Wright; a great-aunt, Janet Cook; and a cousin, Jeffrey Conner. He is survived by both parents, Jessie and Joyce Scott of Opdyke; a brother, Nathaniel Younger of Opdyke; a sister, Makalia Younger of Opdyke; a paternal grandmother, Sheery Evilsizer (and companion Don Fry) of Flora; maternal grandparents, John and Judy Phillips of DuQuoin; aunts, Johnny Younger of Valier, Jessica Phillips of Royalton, Judy Scott of Womack, Amanda Roberts of Alabama andLeigh Ann Blackburn of West Frankfort; uncles, Patrick Evilsizer of Flora, John Evilsizer (currently stationed in Hawaii in the U.S. Marine Corps, Curt Scott of Centralia; an uncle and aunt, Fred and Debbie Harlow; an uncle and aunt, Billy and Corrine Ullery; godparents, John "Papaw" and Darlene "Mammy" Roberts of McLeansboro; and extended family members Danny, Veronica and Daniel of Benton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the General Baptist Church in McLeansboro. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct.r 29 at noon at the Old DuQuoin Cemetery in Old DuQuoin, with the Rev. Jason Moore officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Army National Guard at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton County High School Football Team, or to the family to help with funeral expenses, and will be accepted at the church or at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of the arrangements.
