Jacob A. “Jake” Karcher, 94, of East Peoria, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at his home. He was born March 6, 1921, in McLeansboro, the son of Thomas and Ann Karcher. He married Irma Schilling on Aug. 28, 1946; she preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 2011 in Peoria. He is survived by one son, Ken Karcher; three daughters, Jan Karcher, Anita Brown and husband Bill and Debbie Thompson and husband Dan; four grandchildren, Annah and Karsten Brown, Renna Brunton and husband Stephen and Hayley Thompson; and one sister, Odelia Karcher. He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. He was employed for CILCO for 23 years and retired in 1983. He was a funeral attendant at Remmerts since 1996. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of St. Monicas and Knights of Columbus. He was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed gardening and loved to make people smile. Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 24, at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Burial was at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
