Janet Viola Leek, 78, of McLeansboro, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at St. Louis University Hospital. She was born Sept. 18, 1936, in Christopher, the daughter of Noble L. Williams and Pearle (Lohmann) Williams. She married Carl Leek; he survives in McLeansboro. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sherylin Bundy of West Frankfort and Geri Rene Owen of McLeansboro; one son, Jeffrey Leek and wife Robin of Harvel; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Gore and husband Chris, Stacey Young, Robbie Edwards, Lauren Edwards, Jordan Leek, Austin Leek and Madison Leek; four great-grandchildren, Allison Jett and husband Mark, Aleah Gore, Vali Gore and Staley Alvis; one sister-in-law, Betty Williams of Benton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Oliver Williams. She worked for People's National Bank in McLeansboro. She was the secretary for Ten Mile Baptist Church in McLeansboro. She was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church in McLeansboro where she was a Sunday school teacher and a piano player. She was also a member of Christopher Eastern Star. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at Ten Mile Baptist Church in McLeansboro with Brother Jacob Gray officiating. The visitation was held after 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Burial was at Mulkeytown Cemetery in Mulkeytown. Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher was in charge of all of the arrangements.
