John “Bud” M. Goin, 88, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Deaconess VNA Plus Hospice. He was born in McLeansboro, IL October 18, 1925. John served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific area during WWII. He was a member of Old North United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Riverbend Association, in Evansville. He was also a member of the Elks and the American Legion of McLeansboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Owen Goin; sister, Nadine Goin Ventress; and, brother, Owen Goin, Jr. John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sue (Thomas); daughter, Andrea “Ande” (Charlie) Alvey of Evansville; sons, Tom Goin of Peoria, AZ and Tim (Linda) Goin of Evansville; grandchildren, Owen Goin of Evansville, Jonathan (Kirstie) Goin of Peoria, AZ, and Lexi Goin of Peoria, AZ; step-grandchildren, Heather Alvey (Eric) Toone of Evansville, Julia Alvey of Evansville, and Chad (Sayuri) Alvey of Tokyo, Japan; step-great grandchildren, Holden McNeal of Evansville, Violet Toone of Evansville, Aster Toone of Evansville, Mattie Toone of Evansville, Eddie Alvey of Tokyo, Japan, Hiro Alvey of Tokyo, Japan, and Haru Alvey Tokyo, Japan; and, 21 nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Alexander North Chapel with Rev. Mike Monahan officiating, and entombment following in Alexander Memorial Park.
