Kenneth Cantrell, 71, of McLeansboro, died 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro. He was born Aug. 6, 1944, in Broughton, the son of Hood Bethel Cantrell and Nora V. (Cotter) Cantrell. He married Phyllis Ellen (Jones) on March 7, 1965; she survives in McLeansboro. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Doug Cantrell and wife Andrea of McLeansboro; a daughter, Candace Cantrell of McLeansboro; two sisters, Mildred Ila Warren of McLeansboro and Elizabeth Campbell of McLeansboro; a brother, Ronnie Cantrell of McLeansboro; three grandchildren, Justin Cantrell and companion Seasha Sing of West Frankfort, Jonathan Cantrell of Salt Lake, Utah and Madelyn Cantrell of McLeansboro; a great-grandchild, Makenna Grace Cantrell; and close friend, Loyd “Booter” Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Morris Cantrell; and a sister-in-law, Susie Cantrell. He was self-employed and operated an oil field business. He loved to work, listen to music, but he was a family man first. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial was at Hickory Hill Cemetery in Walpole. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at Harre Funeral Home. Masonic services were conducted at 7 p.m. Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, is in charge of arrangements.
