M. David Lane, 70, of McLeansboro, passed away at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 12:52 a.m. He was born on July 1, 1944, in Enfield, the son of Clinton Huston and Kathryn Ann (Cox) Lane. He married Velma L. Periman on Oct. 25, 1961. They were married for 53 years. Survivors include his wife, Velma Lane of McLeansboro; three daughters, Stacy Roberts of Arnold, Mo., Denita Jo Schilli and husband Dan of Bloomsdale, Mo., and Gena Rae Lane of McLeansboro; one son, Scott Lane of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Janet Vickers and husband, David of Omaha and Dianna Howell and husband, Ed of Point, Tex.; one brother, Mark Lane of Plano, Texas; seven grandchildren, Josh Lane, Christen Ries, Marshall Lane, Devin Schilli, Darissa Schilli, Justin Carron and Karley Henderson; and five and a half great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Lane. He was a heavy equipment operator for River Cement in Festus, Mo. for 23 years. He also drove a truck for Ste. Genevieve Industries. He enjoyed horses. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Friends called on the Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City on Wednesday, March 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery near Carmi.
