Marilyn L. Karcher, 69, of Dahlgren, died 8:15 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born Nov. 16, 1945, in Dahlgren, the daughter of Marion and June (Hart) Cross. She married Frank “Hank” Karcher; he preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Regina Warren and husband Wesley of Dahlgren and Jodie Harris and husband Jim of Dahlgren; four grandchildren, Amanda Atkinson and husband Doug of Dahlgren, Brittani Valentine and husband Chad of McLeansboro, Jarret Warren of Dahlgren and Tyler Warren of Dahlgren; four great-grandchildren, Evan Atkinson, Ellie Valentine, Maddie Valentine and Alec Valentine; three brothers, Gabe Cross and wife Mary Ann of Dahlgren, John Cross and wife Cathy of McLeansboro and Steve Cross and wife Shelia of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Gaila Tyne of Streator and Dorothy Horton of Kangley. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Wayne, James and Gerald Cross. She served as Dahlgren Village secretary for 35 years. She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Earnhardt Nascar fan. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, at St. John's Catholic Church in Dahlgren with Deacon Archie Bowers officiating the funeral mass. The visitation was held 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Burial was at St. John's Cemetery in Dahlgren. Gholson Funeral Home of Dahlgren is in charge of the arrangements.
