Text size

Mrs. Norma J. House, 85, of McLeansboro, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia after a short illness. Her daughter, Clytie Zimmerman, was holding her hand as she left this world for the next.
Mrs. House was born in Hamilton County to Roy Neal Rhodes and Louella Lankford Rhodes on Feb. 6, 1931. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Virginia Rhodes and Helen House; her eldest daughter, Mary Ann Crim; and close friend, Freeman Johnson.
She attended schools in McLeansboro and Evansville, Ind., before her marriage to Clyde C. House. In 1963, she and her family moved to Galion, Ohio, where they lived for several years. She was active in the lives of her five children and worked hard to guarantee they had happy childhoods. She also lived in New Concord and Cambridge, Ohio, and later in Ravenswood, W. Va., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., before returning to McLeansboro to care for her elderly parents.
She accepted Christ as her savior.
She is survived by her children, Stephen H. House and wife Phyllis of Zanesville, Ohio, David M. House of Austin, Texas, Clytie Zimmerman and husband Steve of McLeansboro, and Heidi Molina and husband Mario of Pensacola, Fla; her son-in-law, Tim Crim of Galion, Ohio; and grandchildren, Christopher House, Arietta House Holland, Jessica Crim Weithman and Jennifer Crim Arbona all of Ohio, Adam and Zachary Zimmerman of Illinois and Kathryn Zimmerman Ashby of Arizona, Michael Anderson of California and Nathaniel and Austin Anderson and stepgranddaughter, Matea Molina all of Florida; and 17 great-grandchildren.
As per her wishes, there were no funeral services. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a date to be announced. Memorials may be given to the McCoy Memorial Library. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words. We appreciate so much the excellent care she received at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. May she rest in peace!
