Ralph Winternheimer, 79, McLeansboro, died at 7:01 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at his home. He was born May 20, 1935, in Blairsville, Ind., a son of Clarence and Leona (Downen) Winternheimer. On June 2, 1956, he married Linda Carol Gambrel, who survives in McLeansboro. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Winternheimer and wife Diana of Dahlgren, Ralph Terence Winternheimer and wife Karen of Henrico, Va., and Robin Alan Winternheimer of Los Angeles; two grandchildren, Eldon Ryan Winternheimer of Dahlgren and Veronica Bernice Sanberg and husband Mark of Indianapolis; four great-grandchildren, Kortnee Blackledge, Marcus Sanberg, Lucas Sanberg and Ava Winternheimer; brother, Clifford Winternheimer of Blairsville, Ind.; and a sister, Elenor Herrenbruck of Evansville, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene and David Winternheimer; and an infant sister. He was a retired farmer and feed salesman and a member of the Hamilton County Bottle Club. Memorial funeral services were held Wednesday at the Christian Chapel Church near McLeansboro with the Rev. Ruby McDowell officiating. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the church. Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the church or funeral home.
