Robert Lee “Bob” Bennett, 83, died 10:57 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was a retired mail carrier. Bob was born February 23, 1931, in McLeansboro, the son of Alva James and Freida (Smith) Bennett. He married Donna Sue Hamilton on February 6, 1976, in Wayne City. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He loved woodworking and farming. Survivors include his wife, Donna Bennett of McLeansboro, one daughter: Dawn Marie Frick and husband Jeremy of Crossville, Ill., four granddaughters: Alexa, Akira, Alana, Ariana Frick, two sisters: Wilma Willis and husband Kenny of McLeansboro and Mary Tennyson of Dahlgren, one brother : Roy Bennett and wife Bobbie of Greenup, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Services for Robert Lee “Bob” Bennett will be Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Scott Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery near Macedonia. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. and until time of funeral at Harre Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alva Bennett, Jr. Memorials may be made to the Antioch Cemetery and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of all of the arrangements.
