Robert Lee Jones, 90, formerly of Dahlgren, passed away at Hamilton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in McLeansboro on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at 9:56 p.m. He was an assembly worker and had retired from Caterpillar in East Peoria. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was born on Nov. 3, 1924, in Greeneville, Tenn., the son of Wilbur Jones and Alma Lou (Franklin) Jones. He married Julia Eileen Clark in 1948. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2010. Survivors include two sons, Carl Robert Jones of Dahlgren and David Jones and wife Peggy of Enfield; one sister, Rita Ann Murr of Greeneville, Tenn.; two brothers, Richard Lee Jones and wife Lena of Greeneville, Tenn. and Ralph Jones of Greeneville, Tenn.; two sisters-n-law, Peggy Bell and Katherine Spradlin of McLeansboro; two brothers-in-law, Frank and Richard Clark; eight grandchildren, Diane, Barbara, Michael, Davina, Julie Ann, David Dean and Dezarea Jones; nine great-grandchildren, Cortney, Josh, Matthew, Braden, Kyla, Skyler, Zachary, Blair and Blake Jones; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He attended the First Baptist Church in Dahlgren. He loved to fish, work puzzle books and listen to country music. Funeral service was held at 12 p.m. Friday, Jan, 2, at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Andy May officiating. Burial was at Richardson Hill Cemetery in Dahlgren. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, Jan. 2, at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren will be in charge of all of the arrangements.
