Ruby's Story

Ruby Thomas, 94, of Chatham and formerly of McLeansboro, died 1:28 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born Oct. 15, 1920, in Sperry, Okla., the daughter of Willis and Lela Jo Gaddy Meade. She married J T Thomas on July 4, 1939, and he preceded her in death. She is survived by son, Dick Thomas and wife Bonnie of Hazelwood, Mo.; daughter, Sharon Harbour and husband Bob of Springfield; three grandchildren, Amber Lynde of Florissant, Mo., Kris Robinson of Ballwin, Mo., and Eric Robinson of Newberry, Fla.; and four great-grandchilden, Brylie, Arissa, Alana and Braxton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Bob Meade.ß Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Mark Byars officiating. Interment was at Ten Mile Cemetery near McLeansboro. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until the service time Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home. She worked as manager of a jewelry shop in Michigan and later worked as an inspector at the former Elder Mfg. Co. in McLeansboro. She was a member of McLeansboro First Baptist Church. Gholson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
